Winning Wheels is pleased to introduce our short term rehabilitation wing, Stepping Stones, as part of our comprehensive rehabilitation services. We invite you to recover from an elective surgery, illness, or injury in one of our private suites while receiving intensive therapies delivered by our team of professionals.

Our goal is the same as your goal; rehab from our home to your home as quickly as possible.

We have 14 graciously appointed private rooms that have their own private bathroom and shower facilities. Our two transitional care suites allow our Stepping Stones residents to work with our occupation therapy department on those skills that will assist them to successfully return to their homes.

Stepping Stones, Rehab to Home, helps people achieve their maximum functional capacity and get back safely to their homes and community in the shortest time possible. To achieve this goal, our residents receive physical, occupational and speech therapy from compassionate and highly skilled therapists. Our therapists are part of a larger team that includes physicians, nurses, social workers and nutritionists, who work with the resident and family members to develop an individualized care plan. To ensure a smooth transition to home, Stepping Stones will assist with setting up home health care services in your community.

If you have Medicare coverage you will need to qualify for skilled care in order for Medicare to pay for short-term rehabilitation. Medicare covers certain skilled care services that are needed daily on a short-term basis (up to 100 days). Skilled care requires the involvement of skilled nursing or rehabilitative staff in order to be given safely and effectively. Stepping Stones also accepts most insurance plans, private pay and Medicaid. Our well trained marketing and admissions staff can assist you in determining what plan will work best for you.

Stepping Stones realizes that hospital discharges can be sudden and confusing, but want you to know that admissions are accepted 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. A simple phone call to Winning Wheels at 815-537-5168 will put you in contact with trained professionals who will assist you in your transition to our Stepping Stones unit. In many instances, transportation will be made by one of the Winning Wheels transport vehicles.
